 Friday Shabbat Gathering

Our monthly Friday Night Shabbat Gatherings are filled with song, stories, meditation, prayer and spirit. Please bring your musical instruments for service and song! A dessert potluck follows services; please bring a vegetarian dessert, chips or drinks to share with the community.

 Keneset HaLev Shabbat Home Gatherings

Aching for a Keneset HaLev - Community of the Heart fix?
Members of the community regularly open their doors for Shabbat song, services and potluck dinners!

Individual members of Keneset HaLev offer their homes for more intimate Home Gatherings that are member led. Space is limited due to the size of the homes, so reservations are required to eliminate overcrowding. You must contact us by phone (415-339-SHUL) or E-mail in advance to get the address and start time, and to coordinate potluck dishes, so be sure to contact us early before it fills up.

 Keneset HaLev Shabbat Field Trips

There are many terrific Jewish communities in the Bay Area. On Shabbats when we do not have our own gathering, Keneset HaLev will often join these other communities to share with them.

Watch this space or call for updates.

We have visited and will be visiting the following communities:
  • Nishmat Shalom is the East Bay's feminist minyan. They pray in both feminine and masculine Hebrew and English. Men and women of all backgrounds and orientations are welcome. They share a tasty vegetarian potluck, shmooze, and learn torah after the morning service (Saturday mornings, check their website).

  • Congregation Sha'ar Zahav is a progressive reform synagogue that uses egalitarian, feminist, and gay-positive jewish liturgy. They are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and heterosexual jews, together with lovers, family and friends, both jewish and non-jewish. They are committed to creative prayer, study, mitzvot and tikkun olam (repairing the world), and welcome all who wish to join for worship, learning, and celebration (weekly Friday evening and Saturday morning services, check their wesite).
